UX Capstone Project

You’ve explored how interfaces are built — from console to desktop, mobile to web, native to cross-platform. You’ve learned how to improve usability, account for accessibility, and design for a global audience.

Now it’s time to bring it all together. 🎓

This capstone project is your chance to design and build an interactive user experience — something useful, personal, or just plain fun. It’s open-ended by design, so you can explore your own interests while applying what you’ve learned.

🧭 Your Mission

Create an interactive app with a thoughtful user interface and experience. You choose the platform, the tools, and the purpose.

Requirements:

  • Choose one platform (web, mobile, or desktop)
  • Use at least one UI framework or library
  • Include at least 2 interaction patterns covered in the course
  • Consider accessibility (a11y) in your design
  • Plan for internationalization (i18n) or demonstrate readiness for it
  • Write a short reflection or demo post explaining your design decisions

💡 Project Ideas

Here are some possibilities to spark your creativity:

📆 Habit Tracker

  • Create a daily or weekly tracker
  • Use color to indicate streaks
  • Add accessibility labels and ARIA roles

🎮 Simple Game

  • UI-based version of Tic Tac Toe or Memory Match
  • Highlight user turns and state visually
  • Include restart and help dialogs

📬 Newsletter Signup Portal

  • Form with field validation and success feedback
  • Responsive layout for desktop and mobile
  • Localized labels and confirmation message

🍽️ Recipe Explorer

  • Search by ingredient or cuisine
  • Use cards to display recipes
  • Include keyboard navigation and skip links

🎨 Custom Creation

  • Build something uniquely yours! Think drawing tool, quiz app, or productivity helper.

🧪 Deliverables

  • A working prototype (can be hosted online or shared via GitHub)
  • Screenshots or video demo (optional but helpful)
  • A short write-up (in your README or a blog post) covering:

    • What you built and why
    • Patterns and technologies used
    • How you addressed accessibility and i18n
